Repairs are priced per fault, not by the hour. A stiff lock stays the quoted price whether it takes twenty minutes or an hour and a half, which matters because nobody can tell from a photograph exactly what is behind the panel.

WhatsApp a picture of the fault, ideally with the door or drawer open. That is usually enough to diagnose it.

Carpenters carry common hinges, runners and fixings, so most jobs are finished without a second visit.

When repair is worth it, and when it isn’t
We turn down work most weeks because replacing would cost the customer less. It is worth knowing where that line usually falls.
Repair is almost always worth it where the structure is sound and the fault is in the hardware. Hinges, runners, locks, handles, closers and sliding-door rollers are all wearing parts, and replacing them is cheap relative to the furniture. A wardrobe worth AED 4,000 with two failed hinges is a AED 200 job, not a reason to buy a new wardrobe. The same is true of solid wood: a scratched or faded surface can be refinished for a fraction of replacement, and a well-made dining table will outlive several sets of chairs.
Repair is usually not worth it where the chipboard or MDF carcass itself has failed. Once particle board has swollen with water, delaminated, or had the same screw hole stripped three times, the material has nothing left to hold a fixing and any repair is temporary. Flat-pack furniture that has already been dismantled and rebuilt twice tends to be at the end of its life. In those cases we will say so on the phone before charging you for a visit.
Our rule of thumb: if the repair would cost more than half the price of replacing the item, we tell you and let you decide. That conversation costs nothing, and it is the reason a good share of our work is repeat customers.
